Gold Coast Hinterland Walk – Lamington and Springbrook National Park

Sunday 28 February to Saturday 6 March 2010

Itinerary

Day 1 - Sunday 28 February

Pick up walkers in Lismore and at the Gold Coast Airport at 11am & drive to Binna Burra, Lamington NP – Grooms Cottage. Possible short walk + visitors centre

Day 2 - Monday 1 March

Day walk – Options: 1. Illinbah Circuit (17km), 2. Shipstern + Tullawal (20km),

3. Half day walk if preferred

Day 3 - Tuesday 2 March

1.Half group with David on bus (1½hrs) to O’Reilly’s, walk via Toolona Creek – back to Binna Burra lunch at Wanungara Look Out – Border Track to BB (25km = 8hrs)

2.Half group with Tina – walk from Binna Burra via Coomera Falls + Border Track – lunch at Merino LO – to O’Reillys (25km =8 hrs)

Tina and David swap over halfway – David back to bus with 2nd group, Tina back to BB with 1st group

Day 4 - Wednesday 3 March

Pack up and leave bus at BB Visitor Centre. Walk up Caves Track (3km) + part of Shipstern (3.7km) + Lower Balanjui Falls side trip (3km) + Lower Bellbird (3km)(David returns to collect bus) + Great Walk past Egg Rock to Numinbah Rd (5km) = 18km (6hrs)

Bus will meet walkers at Numinbah ad drive to Springbrook. Option NOT to walk last 5km but go in bus!

Day 5 - Thursday 4 March

Bus drive back to Numinbah. Walk Numinbah – Appletree Park – Warringa Pool – Purlingbrook Falls – The Settlement (16km= 6hrs). OR this can be done in reverse, meaning downhill rather than uphill.

Day 6 - Friday 5 March

Springbrook day walk. Warrie Circuit (17km = 6hrs) Plus possible extension off track to The Pinnacle

Day 7 - Saturday 6 March

Pack up and drive back to GC Airport and on to Lismore. Drop Off at Airport 10.00am
