Sunday 12th Feb Evans River paddle
Meet at Woodburn park at 12:30pm or 12noon if you would like lunch in the park. Aim to finish before 5pm
The aim is to make a relatively easy one way paddle by car shuffling and catching the tide downstream to Evans where the keen paddlers will be rewarded by fish and chips (or whatever else takes your fancy) in the park overlooking the River. We will make a few pit stops along the way for drinks, nibbles and to explore the wildlife.
The paddle can be broken into 2 or 3 groups. An easy paddle will start from the golf course and be about 14km. Keener paddlers can start at the Pacific highway and portage over the Fabridam (if it’s up) – 19km. The Gung-ho can start at Woodburn - 22km. I’ll be starting from the Golf course. To get perspective.
Notes: High tide at Woodburn 1.6m at 1pm. Low tide at Evans is at 5:30pm. The tide at Woodburn is 1hr45mins behind the Evans Head. For perspective the last trip to Evans was about 10km with bad weather and a severe headwind. If the weather looks bad this time we may alter the starting and finishing points to make life easier.
Some canoes are available for borrowing - just ask. Leader Ian S. 66261212 (Work Only) 0432114055

Matheson and then back to Pholis Gap Lookout along the new work done by the NPWS. From there we will return to the top of Mt Nardi along the western face via the old and overgrown Googarna Road. The grade 1 walk emerges on Newtons Road about 400m down the road from the car park. For the more adventuresome there will be an off track detour from Googarna Road to Mulgum Creek and the top of Mulgum Creek Falls before the same return.
