Southern Highlands October 2 - 9 2010

The entire Youth Hostel at Bundanoon has been booked for October 2 -9 2010. There are many scenic walks available that include 2-3 day overnight pack walks, day walks and half day walks. It is envisaged that we will be involved in at least 2 day walks put on by the Southern Highlands Bushwalkers Club. Itinerary will include walks in Nattai NP, Morton NP and Bungonia State Rec Area. All walks within an easy drive of Bundanoon. There are spectacular gorges, escarpments, viewpoints and waterfalls to visit.

At this time of the year there will be some non walking activities available such as "TulipTime" in Bowral (100,000 bulbs), Robertson Annual Waratah Show and a Guided Historic Tour of Berrima. Many private gardens will be open.The National Park Office at Fitzroy Falls will be displaying many Australian wild flowers and native orchids in bloom. There will be a guided tour to see the glow worms and possibly a special NRBC Croquet Championship.

The YHA offers double rooms, dorms and camping sites (limited power available). Has an outside bbq in a courtyard, a well equipped brilliant kitchen and relaxing lounge areas and verandahs. It should be possible to car pool. Click on the Link below for public transport information.

The accommodation price will depend on the number of people attending, but a bunk should cost a maximum of $25 per night, a double room $75 per night and a camping site $15 per person per night. Linen provided for those staying in the hostel.

Please email us with an expression of interest. We are initially looking for a total of 30 members to attend. From the numbers already booked it appears there will be quite a few camping making the dorm rooms far from overcrowded.
